Going Home From Walton on the Naze

Day 6: 25th March, Saturday

Today is a terrible day. Today we go home. Finishing off our packing, we get ready to leave the company of Alan and Sandy. We didn’t want to. But that’s how things go. We went down for one last large breakfast. Also the most important thing above all that. To see what teapot I would be getting today. Here you go:

We Missed The Train

Alan mentioned that the next train was scheduled to leave the station two minutes before the hour. That hour is 10 am. So we gave it a go to get there in time. But, being out of shape, as we were. We didn’t make it. We only missed it by a few minutes. And so we had to wait until the next hour.

Around eleven, the train arrived, and we were on our way.

When we got to Witham, we had to leave the train behind. This was due to the strikes happening. So, we were invited to partake in joining. Many others in a replacement bus service. Our next stop was to be Billericay.

It was getting annoying whilst travelling between stations. I saw many turnoffs where we could have been home sooner. But no. I had to be a person without a car.

Checking online, I researched many alternative routes to get us home as quickly as possible. But we still ended back at our station around half two. We also popped into Morrisons to gather some provisions for dinner. Contact a Bolt driver we went home.

Umm! Yeah! Seeing that we were not going in there with this intention. But… We have another new plant.

After all that, we finally made it home. We unpacked everything and tried to settle down for the rest of the day.

Regency House – The verdict

The building itself is homely. From what I can tell, just from observation, there have been some renovations to the doors, staircase, corridors and entrance areas. As they are living in the house themselves. The rooms they’ve allocated for themselves are lived in. You’ll notice this as you enter the first room on the left, arriving at the establishment half bar, half front room.

The room we had was compact and cosy. But all of the facilities you require are available in the room, including a fridge. They were two types of heating Central and an electrical heater. The room was so warm that the wife started sweating. This hardly ever happens. The ensuite was excellent as well. Although I generally do not care for carpet in a bathroom. I liked this one. Especially the design of the pattern. It made me Reminisce about times of the past.

The shower was a problem. The water pressure wasn’t the best. But I managed to have a shower. The issue came whilst trying to wash my hair. It may be just me, but I don’t like standing under a shower instead. I prefer to be in control of the handle. I was trying to lean over and wash my hair. But the size of it made me concerned I was going to break it and get squashed at the same time. It was awkward.

But The Food, Though…

Breakfast is immense. The amount of food you get from them is close to. I would say similar to visiting your grandparents. Making sure you are well-fed before going out for the day. We were always full by the end of it.

You are welcomed as one of their own and helped with anything they can help with. The couple is getting on in years. But this doesn’t stop them from doing whatever it is. That they need to do, they are really friendly and hospitable. More than happy to please.

The entire residence is old, new, quirky, friendly, cosy, practical, and some other good-feeling words. But in the end, would I return? The answer would be yes. I would recommend this place to anyone. How could I not? The wife is another story. She had only one problem, the heating of the room. But she enjoyed everything else. She felt like she was in a sauna. I was fine. She was not. So it’s a yes from me and a no from her.

Walton on the Naze

If you generally want to sit by the beach all day. This place is for you. This place is pretty quiet. Maybe it’s just the time of year. There are two or three things you could do in the area. But apart from that, do not expect much else. It is an old-fashioned beach town. But one that is a lot smaller than the traditional size towns.
