So What’s Been Happening Recently? #21

Christmas Eve 2019

Another year. Same old routine. I was at work until six that morning and needed to get some sleep. But that wasn’t going to happen. So about half eight the father-in-law turned up and we filled the van up with our presents. So we could begin with our annual mission of “Help Santa.”

First stop. My brother. I had originally got him a couple of One Piece DVDs. But recently he broke the computer I made him, somehow. So I managed to get a second-hand laptop and an extra-long HDMI lead so he could connect it to his TV.

He gave myself and the missus our presents and as I was looking at what I got. There was ‘Oh god no!’ from behind me. The missus saw one of the items I had got and wasn’t happy. It appears that the Blu-ray box set of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Had already been purchased by the wife. She wasn’t happy about it, but kept quiet. Which was nice. An earful coming later. I also got some animated Marvel DVDs and a Marvel woolly Hat. The wife got some Winnie the Pooh cuddly toys. So on to the next.

The next stop was my sisters. I had called ahead to make sure she was available for visitors. She was, so we turned up and had a natter. I got my sister’s present in January after seeing them online.

For my brother-in-law and nephew. I bought them the same thing as well as my other brothers and sister and stepfather: a set of Bluetooth earbuds with power bank.

After a little catch-up and exchanging of gifts, we headed to our final destination: Mothers.

Now I wasn’t expecting this to happen when I enter my mother’s home. We entered the front room and saw a cot and something moving inside. It turns out that my sister had had another baby and had not told anybody about it. So now I am an uncle again to a little boy called Mateo. I think that is how you spell it. Apparently, my sister didn’t tell anybody that she was pregnant. To be honest, I was a little annoyed about not being told anything but it’s my sister’s life and I have to respect it no matter how I feel.

We couldn’t stay long, due to my father-in-law and his friend having an appointment with the doctors for Flu jabs. So we dropped off the presents. For the rest of my nieces and nephew. I had bought secret diaries and pens for them all and some books. With that and the usual sweets, I buy every one.

Mother received a Harry Potter lunch bag and a few other things Harry Potter-related jammed in the bag. Me and mother had a quick catch-up outside while the wife had a natter with my sister with the time allowed.

So with that all over with we headed for the father in laws doctor’s appointment, as we were running late. And then we went home so I could get some sleep.

That evening, after some sleep, we had our traditional evening meal at the Ming Long. Which was a bit of a letdown this year. That best curry in the area is not any more. I hope it’s a one-time thing because I really like that place.

Also during the meal, I was showing this website to the father-in-law and found that one of the blogs I had put up on the day wasn’t connecting properly and had to fix it. It took me a while to work out what was wrong but eventually, I sorted it out and returned to my meal. All in all, we had a nice time and left the restaurant stuffed.
