On Our Travels Again #3
Day 3
Wednesday 9th March. Started pretty much the same as the day before. We were in no rush to get out. The wife wanted to stay in bed all day. But I wanted to go and try out my new recording device and handheld video camera.
I first had to contact Vodafone due to the cock up I found the night before. I spoke to one person who apologised and helped me cancel my contract and then passed me on to a sales rep who gave me an amazing deal. I started off with the deal I wanted of 150 GB of data plus an extra 30 GB for 18 pounds a month to 200gb for 17 pounds and change per month. You have to agree is pretty good.
So with myself happy with that we relaxed for a few hours watching some more YouTube until we were ready to go out again.
The wife wanted to check out a café she spotted yesterday. They had placed some chalkboards on the railings and she had liked what she had seen. It was next to the pier and the information centre I tried to get into yesterday so I was okay with this. But at the time I had forgotten what she had been talking about and got confused with another café somewhere else. We did argue about it only to find the café she was after was closed and had made the journey for nothing.
But instead, we did find another café/bar a few doors down that took our liking. There are several café / restaurants along the same section of the beachfront. This one fits our needs.
Charlie’s is a café/ restaurant/ bar. The staff are friendly and the food was good and plentiful. The wife enjoyed her vanilla latte. The prices were okay but I suppose normal for that type of place. But I would go back if in the area. Good job.
Walking up to the café we notice that there was a film crew about on the road by the beachfront, next to the arcades we went to yesterday. But today they were actually filming, what I believed to be, a B-roll scene. There were people walking up and down in period clothing. With people driving up and down in a circle in old cars from the ’70s and 80s. We had to wait whilst they were filming this.
After our meal, we went to see if the information centre was open. And it was. We had a quick butchers and we came away with these.
So after this, I wanted to have a look at the lighthouse a little closer. The smell wasn’t too bad and when you got past a certain point it disappeared.
I saw this weird thing. I thought it was a man standing in the sea.
It turns out it’s a sculpture by Anthony Gormley. It can only be seen when the tide is out. It’s made out of iron. From a cast of the original artist. The thing is that he placed a total of 100 sculptures around the U.K. So be on the lookout.
We walked back and I wanted to make a quick stop and try and make some recordings. The wife was cold and needed the toilet. I told her I would be a few minutes and we could go and get a drink from the shop across the road. So I went and did my thing. When I was done I turned around and she was gone. She must have noticed. Because when I tried to call her she was calling me. It turned out she couldn’t wait any longer and went straight to the shop and waited there in the warmth. I came in and used their facilities. and we sat down and ordered some chocolate milkshakes.
The milkshakes were really good. The price, not so much. I would have had another but the price stopped me. £4.50 for the milkshake. We relaxed for a while then headed off.
We headed back to the arcade and spent some time playing the games. Our haul.
After returning to the room. We relax and continued with a Beard Meats Food marathon. It got dark and I needed to make one last trip out. I wanted to get some night photos and maybe a recording of the sea at night. So I went out and tried my best.
I think I did okay with what I had. Semi-pleased with my results I returned and we got ourselves ready for going home the next day and then returned to our YouTube show until we went to bed.
