My Life That Happened In #32…

Episode #31

… May 2026

Friday 1st

Even though there was a lot of work coming in, everything went nicely and smoothly. Enough that we were able to relax a little until the final delivery arrived early. And I was able to have that finished, so I could hand everything over to my apprentice to finish the final part of the paperwork.

At home, I manage to go to bed at a reasonable time and read a couple of chapters before getting to sleep.

Saturday 2nd

Latest edition

Waking up just before midnight, I thought I would catch up and publish last month’s life blog, but relaxing got in the way, and I went back to watching my latest binge show, Mobland. I wasn’t expecting it to be addictive. It is an okay show, but the drama just pulled me in, and the cast is amazing.

As today is my day off, I needed to get a nap in before the missus got up.

Today’s plan seems to be a shopping day. It takes us a while to get going, but we do it. And after a few hours, we are back home again, thankful we survived the outside world, and we can try to relax again.

Sunday 3rd

After some more procrastination, I eventually get back into the office, where I publish my life blog and spend some time fantasising about getting another watch, knowing that I still have to get the window fixed on NeNe’s.

I didn’t get much sleep. It was my own fault, as I stayed up a little longer than I should have and finished off Mobland. I did eventually go to sleep, but even that wasn’t long enough. Paying for it with a mild tension headache.

I am trying out different branded pies for my lunch. They are steak and gravy. As I meal prep for the next couple of days. I need to get ready for work tonight.

Monday 4th

There was not much work tonight, so we cleaned out the warehouse as much as we could and got rid of nearly everything. Before I could get on with scanning the pallets, I was called to cook, as they had called in sick. Apart from that, it was an easy night.

Although I did see something odd as I was walking to NeNe, two trailers from the same company had arrived. We were only expecting one. So I will find out when I come back in tonight.

It was also time for this week’s latest video to be finished off.

I have overindulged a little, so I will need to relax on eating too much food. Feeling bloated, I am going to skip breakfast today and only eat when I get hungry.

Tuesday 5th

It was another quiet night. The first trailer came in late, and I didn’t get the chance to deal with the other. As I was sent to cook. I was also asked to cook some extra items, as we had a change in the routine with a group bonding session. I surprised myself by enjoying it.

Lunch was a lot later than expected, but everything was fine, and I went back to work with nearly nothing left to do.

Today is book club day, and I am hoping we will have more people coming than last time. We have been upgraded to a new room, so I am hopeful. Leaning against the wall, reading, the general manager walked past and congratulated me. I had no clue what they were on about, so I asked them what they meant, and they realised I hadn’t seen my email.

I opened it up and was taken aback to see I had won Employee of the Month. Shock hung around for a long time after that, wondering why. But then we moved to another room, and there we had a successful book club session.

Getting home, I showed the missus the email, and with winning, there is a voucher I know the wife will take advantage of. She was the first person I thought of when I heard about the voucher.

I need to pick out a nice hat. Tomorrow I will be having my photo taken. It is going to be weird walking down the corridor and seeing my mug on the wall.

Wednesday 6th

I was happy to find that a couple of the trailers were rebooked for a couple of days later. And another didn’t show up. So a reasonably easy night. I was called on again to cook, and I was given a request, and I happily obliged.

It did get a bit chaotic at the end of the shift, but I managed to get out in one piece, including getting my photo taken. I don’t like it, but I am self-critical of any photos of me. I have only liked a few pictures of myself.

Driving home, it looks like someone has been having fun. A car has been torched on the exit road that connects to my parking area. I had to drive slowly to avoid the onlookers going to school.

The latest book club book has been chosen, and I am already halfway through the book I chose yesterday. I am still not sure whether I like it.

Another successful start to my time before work: I wrote this part of the blog. Published a book report. Finished creating my latest video for Monday and started uploading. Did my exercises and made my lunch. Also caught up with Jenna and Nicky. They are really coming along in the build.

The car has been removed, but the ground has been cordoned off, as the road has been destroyed.

Thursday 7th

Everything went okay, but I have just remembered something I have missed. Not a big thing, but it is important. No cooking tonight, as someone came in. I have told a few more people about my win, and it’s also now announced to the world via email and internal social media.

I eventually leave work as a delivery turns up, so I leave that with the person currently in charge of the shift.

There is nothing much to do at home; I finish uploading my latest video and rest before bed. I also finished my latest book, and I am not a fan.

It is now time for the chosen book club book. I don’t have a physical copy, so I will bring out my Kindle to help.

Friday 8th

My night was spent resting, eating, and catching up with my shows. The wife needed to go out later, and I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to finish everything. So I started getting ready early. I didn’t have all the items I needed for my breakfasts; I saved that for after some shopping.

When the missus got up, I helped her with some job applications.

mmmmmmmm!

The wife had been selling some of her things online, so we had to post them, and then we popped to the shops. I also showed her the burn site. She had no clue it was so close to home.

I feel I should not be so enthusiastic about tinned cut green beans, but I have been waiting for a long time to find them, as they are always out of stock. So I fill my trolley up with them and some other items we need. And the main event was the reason I went shopping. We went to Lidl’s; they had some new releases from their Parkside range, and I wanted to get their electric sander and the filler, which I am hoping will work on NeNe when I get around to sanding her.

At home, we put everything away. I ate before going to bed and started my latest read.

The wife didn’t get one job and had an interview for another. But everything seems to be going okay at the moment.

Walking into work, another trolley of freebie plants was left out in reception. So I video-called the missus so she could have her pick. The missus came away pretty well with the money she had saved in plants and materials.

Saturday 9th

Coming into work, I found an email informing us that the first trailer would be three hours late. So until then, we cleared out and sorted the areas that needed fixing. Meanwhile, I went through the past week’s paperwork and resolved any issues.

I was called on to cook again. But today, a twist came when we found out the staff would now be paying for the food.

What normally happens is that food is taken out of the budget for our area. But now as they are writing down what they have taken, it is easier to collect from the individual.

As there wasn’t any management – well, there was, but as that person spends most of their night upstairs in their own department, we run the show. So we took over and ran our department smoothly and walked away happy with what we had achieved.

I did cock up, as I wasn’t looking at what I was doing and was a few seconds too early to swipe out, and now I have lost fifteen minutes’ pay.

Sunday 10th

A change in the routine tonight, as I was back on the shop floor, replenishing stock. My apprentice was left in charge of the gatekeeping. I was again on call to cook and then continued back on the shop floor until my knee gave way from tiredness. It happened at the last hour of the shift.

Back home, I went through my routine and sat down for this month’s wrestling PPV.

Eventually, I went to bed and continued with my book before falling asleep.

I woke up around 10.30 at night, and my wife continued to be concerned about her interview tomorrow and worried she wouldn’t be able to collect her parcel in time. As it was at a box collecting point. I suggested going to pick it up there and then. She felt a bit weird going out at that time of night. But I said to get her coat. I put some clothes on, and we went.

Monday 11th

Back home, I doomscrolled when my wife went to bed, and after some time, I finally got myself started on writing this blog and a few other book reports.

When it was time, I finished sharing and uploading my latest video, got prepared for my next shift and got ready for bed to read.

The missus also prepared herself for her interview. It seemed to go well, but we will have to see what happens next.

Tuesday 12th

A little surprise today as we found out a little too late that a couple of trailers were rebooked for the following shift. Things are happening on the loading bay, which feels weird as contractors invade our space.

I didn’t have to cook today, which makes a nice change, as I can go to lunch at the same time as everyone else.

I know I shouldn’t complain; well, maybe I should. The board for the employee of the month hasn’t been changed. It’s nearly halfway through the month, and I haven’t been put up yet. I find this disheartening. Like they don’t want my face on the board or something; I don’t know. It shouldn’t bother me, I know, but it just makes me feel down that they would want to keep the person who won in March up instead of moving on to me. I haven’t even been given my voucher yet.

Maybe I should speak to someone.

I should have gone to sleep instead of insisting on finishing my latest read. But now I feel a little groggy, but I get to pick out my next book.

Wednesday 13th

Tonight was filled with enough little stresses to make it a bad night at work. I was already feeling down about not being up on the wall. But then I had to deal with all the little mistakes being made and all of the damage coming in.

A driver came in too early, and they expected to be tipped straight away. That’s not how it works. There were three trailers before them. So they would have to wait. When it was time to tip, I had the driver ask if they could leave the trailer behind, as they had to go. I had a long talk with them, then explained it again on a phone call with their boss, where I made them aware and understand that they can’t just turn up and expect to be seen straight away.

After all of that was finished, I was pulled into an impromptu meeting. I had to speak in that meeting, but I was clearly not ready. I missed my last break and left the meeting early. So I could do what I could with my paperwork before going home.

Tonight I have rushed to get everything done before leaving for work, and I am behind. I have finished my latest video and started uploading. I published my book report and wrote this blog, but I still have to leave for work. So Jenna and Nicky will have to wait until tomorrow.

Thursday 14th

No gatekeeping today. I grabbed my blanket, climbed into my truck and started unloading my trailer.

My head wasn’t in the game, and I needed to relax a bit. Stopping at one point to eat a few chewy sweets, I could feel an attack crawling in, and I had to find a way to slow my head down.

I knew what was partly causing the most recent stress, and I almost admitted as such to my managers. But at the same time, I didn’t want it to be an issue.

It was then that I knew what I needed to do. A holiday was what I required. Go to a place where my head can stop stressing out for a few days. I wanted to book one there and then, but the reality of life had kicked in, and I made some adjustments to the date. But I have found what I want. Now I have to speak to the missus about this.

My manager helped calm me down by having a conversation with me about my pre-decided holiday, and it also helped that I was allowed not to be a gatekeeper today.

At home, for some reason, my left leg didn’t want to work anymore, so I relied on my arthritic knee for support while I collapsed several times.

Friday 15th

I cocked up. The days I picked out for my holiday have caused a problem at work. It would cause a staff shortage. After a chat with my manager, we have discussed this, and I agreed to try to move it a couple of weeks later, but it is better for work, as they will have staff. I have to call the company and see if I can change the dates.

Spontaneity has officially left the building!

We were able to sort out my alternate work schedule for July, when I am going on a first aid refresher course.

My night at work was another day that my head could rest and not be stressed about things that have been bothering me, unbeknownst to me. I was on a reach truck. Other than being concerned about my leg screwing up because of the cold, everything went okay.

Another interesting thing happened at the gatekeeping office. The loading bay is going through some reconstruction. And because of this, a part of the office will be cleared, creating extra space we can use and improve upon.

It was a lot easier to rebook the holiday than I thought. It did cost me an extra 4 quid. But for what it is going to do, I am all for it.

Saturday 16th

Waking up just before midnight, I tried to get my head into my blogs. My head wasn’t in it; I still tried. I had a headache that only compression would help, so I searched for a semi-tight beanie and settled down.

The plan for today is to go and spend my gift card I won from work. Surprisingly, I actually needed some things. The missus had to post a couple of items she had sold. And a big boost for her, as she had sold her first plant cutting.

I purchased some slightly smaller food bowls for lunch at work, hoping they would help reduce the amount I eat. I always seem to eat a tad too much. The missus bought some new vases for her plants and also another plant. It didn’t take long for us to get what we wanted, and I still have some money left on my gift card.

I had a plan for the rest of the day. And it mostly happened the way I wanted it to go. I was planning to spend the rest of the day in bed and continue with my blog. But instead, for the first few hours, I read and finished my latest read. It was bliss. It was not perfect, as my head was still fuzzy. I think it was partly due to tiredness. But bliss, nevertheless.

I felt like I was resting.

After I finished my book, I picked out my next book and tried to catch up with my book reports. I am behind, but I will catch up.

After eating and nearly destroying my desk by spilling a glass of orange Tango all over it, I went to bed and gave in to the tiredness.

Sunday 17th

Waking up around half-past two, the wife was going to bed, and I decided to get up. My throat was sore from snoring, so I grabbed a drink of water and rested until I was ready to prep for work.

Today, I start work a little early, so I will need to go to bed early as well. It will be a little different, as I will be running the show until someone can take over. This also means I will be going home earlier.

I missed out on some plants because the trolley they left was empty except for a couple of dead plants before I entered the building.

I have already had two emails from work telling me how I am going to run the shift that I will briefly be in control of. A little annoyed, and I understand why, but come on. Let me actually give it a go before taking over straight away.

It was also annoying, as someone had gone ahead and activated the pick before I had the chance to give it a go.

Monday 18th

I have had to make some alterations to certain things to help the shift run smoothly.

But the night went well. It was nice and relaxing, and I didn’t need to stress about anything. I was ahead of myself before I left, and the loading bay was left in good hands.

At home, I finished sharing my latest video and relaxed for as long as possible, catching up on some blogs.

Tuesday 19th

Another quiet day, where everything went well. One trailer didn’t show, but everything else that arrived was finished quickly.

I made a start on some mandatory online learning. And also made a start on a plan that creates a blank canvas for part two of the operation to rejuvenate the loading bay.

The new heating system that’s being installed is going well. Whether it will improve things is still to be determined.

At home, I end up going to bed a little later than I wanted because my wife’s Instagram account has been hacked. Her page, called Plantmum4life, was being used by someone who seems to be in Taiwan.

I found the person on Facebook and sent a link to his page, making sure he knew we were on to him. Although I am thinking the person we contacted may also have been hacked. Or that their profile picture may have been used.

It took a while, but we were able to get it back, and I updated the security on it, and she is back to normal. Although we think they may have started again by trying to get to her Facebook account, that went nowhere.

Wednesday 20th

The day went okay. I did get a bit stressed trying to get everything done all at the same time. Making me then realise again why I needed a holiday away from everything.

We had nearly finished all of the work when the construction workers turned up and took over, leaving me unable to finish my paperwork. I moved to another computer where I was network-restricted in what I could do; still, I managed to get most of the work except for one thing before leaving for home.

A failed attempt was made whilst trying to deliver another item the missus had sold, as the Evri drop-off point wall was full.

I was happy that my latest book had arrived, freshly published.

Woke up with a start, wondering where the light was coming from, and realised that the sun hadn’t set yet. I was unable to get back to sleep, and so I continued with my latest read.

Before work, I updated my blogs.

Thursday 21st

Today is going to be a nice, easy night without the need to rush to get things done. There is only one trailer coming in, and when I started work, it was already set up to tip.

Cleaning

Well, I thought it would be, until I saw the state of the office. The morning before, construction staff were installing brackets and framing into the walls and the ceiling and drilling into the concrete and walls. I came into the remains of that with dust and dirt covering everything.

So while I received the stock into the warehouse from the trailer, I was back and forth, cleaning everything.

It took a while, but I got everything as clean as possible before I was satisfied.

That wasn’t the only thing I had to clean that night. An area just outside the office was holding a pallet of stock that had no business being there. It had been there longer than I had been working there.

So after some emails to the people in charge, it was moved elsewhere. I cleaned up the area, and it can now be used for its intended purpose. A pallet truck storage area.

Someone read my blog.

Yesterday I showed my manager a few pictures from my last holiday, but we viewed them on my website.

I do wonder why people are shocked when I tell or show them I have a website.

Today they read my last month’s life blog. They seemed to enjoy it and got a little more insight into the mind that is me. They also gave me some feedback, which I have taken on board and will try to work into this blog and future blogs.

I also signed myself up for a development day that’s happening at the end of next month.

After lunch, I gave some training to a new gatekeeper. They are getting there. But they have a way to go before it all sinks in. There is no rush. After they left to go home, I continued with a side project. And I was also asked to collect some pallets from a container before it was time to go home.

Shopping

There was no rest when I went home. I promised we would go and get some provisions, and the missus had to post a couple of items.

We popped into Lidl and Home Bargains for a few things, filling up NeNe before heading home again.

A new family member.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without the missus adding to her collection. At home, it was time to rest, eat, and finally go to bed to read and fall asleep.

Friday 22nd

I finally got out of bed just before midnight. I headed into the office, where I thought it would be a good idea to get on with my blogs. But then I touched and fixed the problems my security app didn’t like, and it was then that I realised I screwed up, as the apps I was using were deleted, and it was then time to go on a journey and try to search for them.

It took nearly four hours of fussing about trying to fix my website until I realised I could restore what I had lost from my backups. During my search for my apps, I came across some new dark mode apps, and now I am using three of them to work in different areas of my website. And the new changes have made the site look a bit better, in my opinion.

Before grabbing something to eat, I went into the other room for a change of scene, and I wanted to stretch out and write my blogs in the living room. I am still tweaking the settings, and it does look better than before, so maybe this hasn’t been a complete botch.

Food

And before I grabbed something to eat, I meal prepped my breakfast for the next couple of days.

All of this writing and thinking about things… it has stressed me a little. And it’s enough that I needed my tinted glasses.

I watched some Casey Neistat videos; I haven’t done that in a while. And I worked on what I wanted to have for dinner at work.

Libib

I have a new toy. It’s an app. It’s called Libib. It is for cataloguing my book collection, as I have always wanted to know how many books I have and how close I am to the definition of a library. For those who don’t know: The definition of a ‘library’ is someone who has at least a thousand books.

I have made a start with the books in the “office”. A few books wouldn’t scan, so I have had to install them manually.

Before leaving for work, I managed to finish one side of the wall of books and manually installed the ones that wouldn’t scan.

Walking into work, I found this on the board when I arrived. Sorry, I had to edit the image. Another stress has gone.

Saturday 23rd

Work was busy, but I had help from my fellow gatekeeper. We did really well, knocking out the trailers to a point that we nearly had five done before we went to lunch.

The Knats had a feast during our lunch break, and I was asked to join my fellow night workers while I was reading. Everyone walked away with at least one bit. I have at least four that I know of.

The weather seems to be getting warmer; I don’t like it.

The very last trailer never showed, but we had a returning delivery from the day before. So I helped sort that out before going home.

Leaving for home, I decided to pick up one of the plants being left for the staff that I thought had a chance of surviving and brought it home for the missus.

Getting home, instead of finishing my routine, I continued scanning the other side of my books. It is now complete. Now I have the task of starting my main bookcase.

I went to bed late, mainly because I was caught up in scanning my books on my new app.

Sunday 24th

A change in work pattern today, as I was placed on the shop floor and onto a truck. It was a nice change, as I was in the mood for some music, and so I got my MP3 player out and sang along as I worked. When all that was finished, I went and helped out in a zone, started from the one side, and met my coworker in the middle.

The gnats didn’t seem to be out today; I can only assume they were well fed from the now five bite marks on my body.

The shift ended well, and I went home to the missus.

After I got settled, I watched some wrestling and went back to scanning some more books. And then, instead of not going to bed, I continued scanning and ended up with a large pile of books that I will have to put in manually.

I also thought it would be a good idea to separate the books I have read from those I haven’t read yet. Finished one shelf and continued on the next.

Gave up after a while and went to bed. The weather had heated up a lot, and we both felt it. So when I went to bed, I set up the large fan and left it running while I slept.

Monday 25th

I eventually woke up again just before midnight and went back to try to write my blogs. Ever since I deleted the wrong plug-ins, the writing side of the site has been sluggish. After a while, I activated one of the spelling and grammar apps, and it seems to be running smoothly again. I hope it lasts.

It’s not fixed, but I am too hot and bothered to worry about it for the moment.

An updated photo of the recent plants we got.

Both the bought plants are doing well, and the rescued plant from work had to be cut right back to a couple of stems. The missus is trying to use hydroponics to see if she can get some root growth before continuing with the next steps. The photo shows them in quarantine. They will stay there for a week or two when the missus can find a space for them to go.

If you want to see some more updates, check out my wife’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

More Food

After some rest I decided to make my breakfast for the next couple of days. I have run out of plain yoghurt, so I will go without.

While I was cooking my pie for dinner, I finished off uploading and sharing my latest video. I even did crafting by making some new ID cards for work for all of the extra roles I have, i.e., forklift driver, fire marshal, first aider, mental health first aider and an emergency number card.

With dinner made and the wife complaining about the heat, we got ourselves ready, as she had a return on one of her sales, and I wanted to try and get some new socks, as the wife has taken all of mine. She won’t admit it, but she has.

I finally worked out what was slowing down my website; my spelling and grammar apps were fighting each other, and so I removed one. And it seems to be back to normal.

I also tried to get a few more of my books manually entered into the collection. And as an extra, I have finished my latest read. I need to pick a new book.

We returned from Primark with our haul of new socks, and I got myself ready for bed.

Considering the heat, I woke up okay. Just before work I had managed to start on my next video and caught up with some extra footage from Jenna and Nicky before going to work.

Tuesday 26th

Work started off a little stressed, although I didn’t admit that, as I had to sort out three days’ worth of paperwork: yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s. While waiting for the trailers that turned up all at once to sort themselves out.

Considering how it started, the rest of the shift went well, and apart from a driver having to wait for us to come back from break, there were no real problems.

The heat has been pushing through all day, and at home we did our best to keep cool. I relaxed by watching some wrestling and finishing off another shelf of books by manually uploading them to the app.

And before I went to bed I nearly finished another shelf, and then I ended up with another stack of books I will manually upload later. BCA has a lot to answer for.

I woke up feeling groggy and tired. I have finished my latest video, and I am trying to stay cool before I go to work. My usual cup of tea has been changed to an orange Tango. I need to boost. It hasn’t really worked. But I am glad I have finished the video, and I have started to upload for Monday. I can finish it tomorrow.

Wednesday 27th

Today was a little easy at work; I didn’t rush anything and allowed everything to happen. There were only three trailers coming in until the fourth arrived. This one wasn’t due until tomorrow. But it was only one pallet. We had an awkward time removing the pallet, but we got it done.

A fun but a little annoying item where there was a heated discussion about water. I understood their side, where they wanted water to be the be-all and end-all of hydration. But my argument was that water wasn’t the be-all and end-all of hydration; as long as you drink enough liquids, you will be hydrated.

New Build

An annoying item. We have contractors installing a new AC system. I also have my own work that needs to be done. Because of this, I need a certain computer to do this work on, as it is connected to the closest scanner in the building. So when they asked if I could move out of the way so they could get to the area above my head. I had to tell them no. They weren’t best pleased. Making them have to wait longer than they wanted to.

It was also amazing that this time around they covered the computers and surrounding electronics.

I had to cook today but needed some clarification from a manager to do with cooking a certain item. After a small talk, everything was cleared up, and I was promised everyone else will also receive this information.

Back home I had to create some more meals and rest before bed.

While I was meal prepping, I continued with my upload of my latest video. I did want to add some more books to the collection app, but battery power seems to be an issue recently. So I will rest for now and return to it later.

Because of some prep earlier on during the day. I was able to finish uploading my latest video and update my blog, which gave me time to publish my latest book report.

I also finished my latest read, and I am able to pick out another book. After checking, I realised that I am crushing my book challenge. I sent myself thirty books to read in a year. My count is already at book 26. I am proud of myself.

As a reward, I sat down and watched the latest episode of Jenna and Nicky.

Thursday 28th

I walked into work knowing what to expect, and then I saw something I wasn’t expecting. It wasn’t a bad thing, but it is annoying. Okay, it was a little bad. A trailer turned up four hours too early and decided to leave the trailer behind.

It was going to be an extra busy night until we found out two trailers were rebooked for the end of the month. So we could relax a little.

I injured myself by trying to rip open the airbags, only to rip a chunk of fingernail off. So I was happy with that.

I was called on to cook as well, so I did my best and stepped away when the heat was getting too much for me.

More contractor problems

It got a little heated later on. We had a tip to unload, and we needed to have the area cleared of everyone except those who were working on the trailer. I called security to ask for help with informing the contractors who were showing up around the time. The “Union” frontman wanted to stick their nose in and find out what was going on. They claimed that they had already spoken to higher management about this, and they were told they could start earlier.

The only problem was the people working in the area weren’t told any of this. Myself being one of them. But it doesn’t matter. My priority is to get my job done first and make sure everyone is safe from getting hurt. And that priority overrides anything or anybody else. I had my managers’ backing, and that’s all that matters.

The person who spoke to my manager and blatantly ignored me. Rude! They seemed like someone who would have your back at work. But here and now the people who actually work here take precedence.

I did hear from my brother that the same person tried to start something behind my back in front of him, and he shut him down. Thank you!

No rest yet

I had one extra job to do when I got home, and that was to take the missus to post her latest sale at the Evri drop-off point and pop into Tesco. I had left my phone at home, so I missed out on any deals. Luckily the items we wanted weren’t in the rip-off areas of the store.

Then it was rest until bedtime to read my latest read, fix the fan and sleep.

The weather is hitting me hard when I wake up. My head is feeling groggy, and I am concerned it may affect my mental health. Writing this down has helped, as I can stop my head wallowing with memories of past events for the next few days.

Friday 29th

I had eaten just before work, so my head was a little clearer, and so I could focus on my job. There was a rush at the beginning where four trailers came in instead of two.

More problems

The contractors, in their greatness of thinking, thought it was a great idea to extend my invitation from slightly moving a cupboard to moving all of the cupboards. Completely removing our work area. It was then blocked by pallets, which I later found out was one of my managers. Still, I wasn’t pleased.

And then we were wondering what was taking the drivers so long to park up. To find that another person, in an absolutely genius move. Thought it was a great idea to drop some pallets into the yard and block the bay up so the driver wasn’t able to pick up the empty trailer. I took some photos and planned to email upstairs.

A bit later there was an accident; I heard a crash. With this, we had to move some people around, which included me, and I went on the shop floor with a truck and moved mixed palleted items to their locations.

Not stopping

I was also called on to cooking again; I didn’t really want to due to the heat that gets thrown at me after cooking. Knowing heat comes with the territory, but it was the heat that came after everything was cooked from the counter, making me have to step away in fear of heatstroke.

I’m not a quitter, and I said I would do it if needed. This time I stepped away and sat down with some of my customers and had a natter.

Everything as far as I know went smoothly. It was also great I didn’t have to deal with the contractors again.

At home I went through my routine before sitting down and resting. But I did get a bit antsy and manually entered the last bit on another shelf of books. Before starting on the final shelf. I have made the decision that I will add the books I have read back into the TBR section, as most of the books I have read were from the nineties and early two thousands and deserve a reread.

I did lose a book, as a chunk of the pages was missing.

Saturday 30th

I arose about half an hour before midnight and slowly woke up.

The missus had found something of use. A vacuum bead trimmer. Didn’t know this was a thing. But I want one. So after some doomscrolling I did some research, and it turns out there isn’t much about them, but Remington seems to be the go-to.

There is an American one that seems popular also; I will keep looking.

This led me to a video of a traveller’s notebook, but this was nearly bank card-sized. I already have different sizes, and I barely use them, but I want one.

The idea is to have an outer shell made mainly from leather or PU. and place whatever you need inside, i.e., notebooks, pockets, stickers, stationery, etc. An all-purpose everyday carry.

This time, though, I will start from scratch and build it the way I want it. First things first, I need a shell.

In the video I saw an ebook reader I would love to have, but I cannot justify owning… Yet!

I began it all with watching wrestling, and I haven’t finished watching it yet. On top of that, I even started writing this blog while going through this process. I will get a drink and finish it off before I continue window shopping.

I took a nap for a few hours and sat with the wife with a cup of tea.

It is complete!

It took a while, but I have finished counting my books into my app, Libib. I am sad to say I am halfway to my goal of having the definition of a library. With a total of 507 books, I have a long way to go.

I did a stupid thing by reading my emails and finding one from work. I answered it, and they answered back. The problem they had was my fault, and I said as much. I explained my situation, and I have justified my situation due to lack of training and not having the equipment needed when required, so I do the best I can with what I have.

What I do find annoying is the “making everyone aware” mode that everyone does instead of speaking directly with the person involved. I know they aren’t; it makes me very paranoid that everyone is looking at me. So I need to do something there and then or I am left with it rolling in my mind for the next few days.

They replied, stating that they didn’t know who did it. But I sent an email to everyone involved on the nights I’m doing the job.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing before I got too tired to stay up, and I went to bed early.

Sunday 31st

I woke up and stretched out on the sofa as the missus went to bed.

Another session of doomscrolling and window shopping for a product that has sold out and I can’t find an alternative for yet.

It got to a point where I made my meals for the next couple of days, and I prepared myself for my next shift tonight.

Breakfast:

Dinner:

Before bed I made an attempt at finishing at least one book report. Something that was the intention for the weekend. I think it went okay. I will need to go over it again later.

Waking up after I failed to get some decent sleep. My eye is playing up. That’s never a good sign, but at the moment I think it will be fine.

More thinking about my new card-sized travellers’ notebook I want to purchase. Maybe I should sort out the ones I already have first, while it may be a while before I can get my hands on one. I will need to investigate.

There may be some trips to AliExpress in the future, or even TEMU. We will see.

But for now I have to get ready for work and do my exercises.

Thank you for coming by and checking up on me. I’ll see you next month!
