My Life That Happened In #31…

Episode #30

… April 2026

Wednesday 1st

Work was nice and easy. It wasn’t until near the end of the shift that I had to deal with a delivery, but I ran out of time to load it with empties. So I had to call the manager in charge to ask for help with delivery as I was walking out the door.

The original plan, when I got home, was to go shopping, but I am not feeling great. During the night, it felt like I was coming down with something, and I still don’t know if I still will be.

I didn’t even cook meals for the next couple of days. I just made sandwiches, and I will decide what to make tomorrow. But I am thinking about pasta.

I went to bed tired again and woke up just in time for the shopping to be delivered.

In the future, I really should double-check what I order. I definitely ordered certain items, but when I got my delivery, the items I chose and the amount didn’t exist. Is it me, or is there a problem with the site? Because this happens a lot and not just with one company.

My blog site had a panic attack. A plugin didn’t update properly, so I had to learn how to fix it, and I was unable to post last month’s life blog. I will try again tomorrow.

Thursday 2nd

The beginning of the shift was stressful as nearly all of the trailers had turned up at once. One turned up five hours early, so even though it had been parked up, I had to send it away to come back later.

I wasn’t feeling great, I was tired, and my head wasn’t sure what it was doing.

Eventually, I was able to get everything sorted and bring my stress levels down. A little while later, I was called on to cook again, and it was a blessing in disguise, as I was able to slow down until I could go to lunch and separate myself from everything.

I found out later that the last trailer’s time had been altered. We were going to reject it, as I wouldn’t be there when it arrived. But it showed up fifteen minutes before I was due to leave. I made sure the paperwork was ready and then handed it over to my manager as I left.

At home, I was drained. So I finished my routine, made my dinner for work and rested before going to bed to read my book and try to prevent it from falling on my face as I doze off.

I woke up way too early again, but I was feeling a lot better than yesterday. Before officially getting out of bed, I read a couple of chapters, and then I got stuck into my routine before going to work.

I am not finished with my latest life blog. So I will publish it tomorrow.

Friday 3rd

The shift was okay, even with the uncertainty of how everything was going to go. It went fine in the end. Most of the deliveries were done, and I went to cook.

I had a sit-down meeting with a manager and a colleague about updates on recent problems. Generally, apart from some problems I have seen since returning from holiday, we are on track. We will be meeting again in the next few weeks to discuss our concerns and hopefully retraining for those who may need it.

And I may also get some training with something I have been wanting to learn for a while now.

I left with a delivery nearly finished but not completely.

At home, I rested until I needed to go to bed.

I woke up earlier than normal. But my brain wouldn’t let me rest, so I got up and finally published my latest life blog. I even ate some food and watched a YouTube video. I also tried to find a lock for the car door. But then I realised I was distracting myself from what I was originally doing, so I stopped, got myself back on track and finished my blog.

Saturday 4th

The wife went to bed; I went back to doomscrolling and watching another episode of Invincible. When it was time, I had a nap.

Waking up, the plan for today is to go shopping, but we spent some time together watching and commenting on some plant group pages.

Eventually, we went out and hit the shops, getting what we needed before coming home and doing more of the same until I decided that I needed to get back to writing.

Today was a nice day; fair enough, we had to go outside and see people, but it was okay. I even got to try a new Dr Pepper flavour. It was bad.

I spent the rest of the night catching up on my blog and finally feeling relaxed, which is weird. But I like it. I also completed my latest video and have already started uploading it. My latest read has started. All is good so far.

Sunday 5th

Nothing to do today apart from getting things ready for work. And if I can be bothered. Well, I am, but procrastination is the evil that takes control. I want to finish another couple of book reports before I go to bed.

I succeed by getting my freewrite out and typing out a first draft that I will edit later.

And eventually I do go to bed. A little later than I wanted, but it happens.

I wake up and get myself ready for work while continuing with my blogs. The missus is stressing herself for no reason. We have the people coming to fix the water-damaged ceiling in the bathroom and the airing cupboard. And maybe the kitchen as well, if money goes our way. At the moment, it isn’t.

Monday 6th

Work could have been stressful, but we went through the motions. And nearly everything went as smoothly as it could.

I had to cook again, and due to the bank holiday, there wasn’t much food prepped, so I had to use my imagination and find some things to add.

We had an unexpected/expected delivery. I saw the listing on the page, but if it’s not on a different page, it tends to be ignored. It will be sorted out tomorrow night. Hopefully.

Thankfully, I had my backup on hand to finish off a couple of things and hopefully sort out the last delivery if it turns up. I will find out later.

Nothing much happened at home. I rested, spent some time with the missus and went to bed with my latest read.

As I had woken up early again, I decided I would get on with my writing and routine before work. I was even able to get my exercises done with a slightly longer video.

Tuesday 7th

Not a good start. I walked into work and realised that I had forgotten to put on my knee strap. When I started my shift, I explained this to my manager, and they suggested I go home and get it. And seeing I only live around the corner, that’s what I did. And then when I was back, I walked down the same corridor and realised I was still wearing my driving shoes, so I had to rush back to my car to change them.

The shift was at a nice, even pace, and I was able to start on a project I had been wanting to do. Everything came in as it should have, and I was also called on to cook again.

I was happy because it was book club day, and I was hoping for a better turnout than last month. And especially since the book we read was a story I really enjoyed reading.

But sadly, except for my recruit, nobody else showed up. I wasn’t happy. But I am scared that the book club won’t last much longer. So we picked out the next genre and went home.

Getting home, I had to finish off my meal prepping and rest before going to bed. I did go to bed a little later than I wanted, but I still got in some reading time before nearly dropping the book on my face.

The wife is getting a little antsy. Tomorrow, the men are coming to fix all of the damaged ceilings. I have had to tell her it will be okay. But she won’t listen until it is shown to her, and then she can admit I was right.

Wednesday 8th

Starting work. I found out I was training someone who wasn’t new. But someone who is drifting at the moment. And at the same time, I was asked to change my shift pattern back to how it was when I started as a gatekeeper. I wasn’t really given a reason why. But as long as I am working and getting paid. I don’t really care.

The day went okay, and I managed to get more of my side project done. Cooking seems to be a regular thing at the moment while others are away. So I will have to wait until they return.

Returning home, I didn’t realise how long it would take. The plasterers arrived and went to town in the bathroom and the airing cupboard. It was around half past 2 when they finally packed up. So I was knackered.

I have to admit I quite like the dark ceiling. But it will need to be painted later.

I have not had enough sleep. My head feels heavy, but I need to get ready for work. My exercises have helped a little, but I think I need to eat something.

Before my shift started, I entered work to find another trolley with plants. So I immediately called the missus, let her have her pick, and placed them in the car.

Thursday 9th

Work was the same as any other day. Except I wasn’t supposed to be there. I found out later that my manager wanted me on the same shift as him on certain days. So do I take that as a compliment?

I cooked again, but as I was about to begin, I found a couple of blokes in the kitchen area cleaning out the filters and air vents. The floor was nasty. So I called my manager. They came up and had a word with them, and they packed up and went. I was left with a cleanish kitchen to get on with what I needed to do.

I found out that I will be cooking on the weekend, which is nice.

Eventually getting home, I was mentally preparing myself for the car repairs and add-ons I wanted to do.

I went to bed a little later than normal, as the wife wanted to spend time with me.

Friday 10th

I was surprised when I woke up. It was coming up to 2 in the morning. I must have slept about nine hours. So I got up and went into the front room to find my wife still up watching her shows.

I spent the next few hours resting, eating, and watching YouTube and a TV show. I even do some washing up while cooking my food and meal prepping.

When I felt it was time, I went out to NeNe and started on a couple of enhancements and some fixes. I installed new blind spot mirrors on the side mirrors. I again attempted to fix the issue with the licence plate lights and was frustrated again, as the warning light wouldn’t go away. It turns out I need to install a resistor to stop the problems with that.

So what I did instead was order the bulbs I needed, and I am having Halfords install them tomorrow.

I Did It!

One achievement of the day is: I fixed the clouded headlight. I have been scared to try this out, but I have got to a point where I am fed up with being scared and went for it. And I was surprised at how well it went. It’s not perfect, but I am happy.

I wanted to do one more project, but I don’t have all the materials I need yet. It is a big job, but I will get to it.

So I came back inside and slowly got myself ready for bed.

I woke up with some stress and pain around my left eye. Not sure what the cause of it is, but the only thing I can do is find something to help relax my head. I may have to get my tinted glasses out at some point, but first I need to get myself ready for work and do my exercises.

Saturday 11th

Work went well tonight, as I had a fellow gatekeeper with me, and we worked through all the jobs that needed doing.

I disappeared later to cook and added something extra that a colleague requested.

The rest of the night was quiet, and I was able to continue with my project. There was also some information that may help me if I can get access to it.

I had an appointment at Halfords to have some bulbs installed. I had got to the point where I was fed up with the licence plate lights, I thought someone else could sort this out and also, as the original bulbs were going to be a pain to install. But the problem came afterwards when all of the rear lights went haywire, and I had to find the right bulbs to fix them. I am hoping they are okay now. The bulbs I had wouldn’t work, and even after I bought more bulbs, there were still problems.

I finally got home and had something to eat before going to bed.

Sunday 12th

As it was going to be a quiet night, I was placed on a truck. It was a nice change, and my apprentice took over my duties. Then, when it was time, I went to cook.

When I returned, I continued helping whoever needed it, and there wasn’t much as everybody seemed to be doing well.

I had to give a critique to my apprentice as they seemed to have missed something for two days on the trot. I felt something needed to be said, as I had trained them. Anything they were missing out could look bad on me as a bad teacher, even though I did train them to do what they were supposed to do.

One good thing came out of this: I learned new terminology for the item being addressed.

Back home, I started my day off. I went about my routine and went to bed a little late.

Monday 13th

I woke up around half one in the morning. And checked in on the missus, while she was watching her programs.

I did nothing but sit and watch my shows after my wife went to bed and had something to eat.

When it was time, I meal prepped and shared my latest video.

The only thing important today was that NeNe had her MOT. So when it was time, I drove across the road and handed over the keys.

That was when the problem started. I had a feeling this sort of thing was going to happen, but I let it happen anyway. Putting it down to bad communication with the software and their IT department. My booking wasn’t registered on their system.

I had proof of everything and even mentioned that I answered their text message, but they had no clue.

They took my keys anyway, and I left to wait at home.

About an hour and a half later, they texted me to say NeNe was ready. She had passed her test with a couple of advisories. One was the same as the past few times, which I still need to sort out and a new one. But I am not sure how serious this one is.

I am just glad that is over for another year, so I can concentrate on slowly fixing all of the little problems NeNe has.

Spending the rest of the morning finishing off whatever was left to do, I eventually went to bed to read my book and fall asleep.

Waking up, I caught up with myself on this blog and got myself ready for work.

Tuesday 14th

One day, security will understand how the first aid rota works. I have to explain it to them every time they think I am on duty.

First night back and there are a few niggly bits that need to be fixed. And slowly, during the night, I work my way through them.

There weren’t many deliveries as one was rebooked for another day. I was able to get the paperwork sorted pretty quickly, and I worked a little more on my side project until we had an unexpected delivery. I need to take some photos.

We need milk, but I can’t be bothered to go to the shops or order online. So I will have to go without a cup of tea. So I relax, have something to eat, and watch some wrestling before I have to go to bed again.

Good news, I finished another book and can now start on my book club book.

Wednesday 15th

At the start of my shift, one of my recent trainees was bringing in the trailers that had arrived before my shift started. Apart from using one wrong sheet of paper, they did okay.

Everything ran smoothly, even though I couldn’t wake up a driver, I used another driver coming in to blast their horn to see if that helped. It didn’t. But they finally woke up, and I sent them on their way.

It has become routine when coming close to the end of my shift. And when I am running out of time to get my paperwork done. Everyone wants something from me; they have questions or want me to find something.

But today I managed to fix everybody’s problems and my stuff with minutes to spare.

There was no rest when I got home; the missus was dressed and ready to go out. I got changed, got most of my routine done, and we then got into NeNe and popped to a shop that was holding a package for the missus. We then gave NeNe a well-needed wash. And finally to Lidls for some provisions.

Waking up for work, I finished uploading next week’s video, watched Jenny and Nicky’s latest video while updating my blog. I completed today’s exercise video. Not in that order. And just before leaving, I managed to publish another book report. I have done well.

Thursday 16th

I was given a different task tonight. One I’ve never done before. I have made attempts at it, but never worked on it for a full shift on my own and had to learn all of the little bits of it. But as soon as I learned a couple of new things, I was away, and the job itself is very easy.

The job itself was to take narrow pallets, place them onto wooden pallets and then try to find a place for them in the racking. Hopefully, the system will give you a decent location; otherwise, I have to look for my own. The concept is easy, but it’s time-consuming.

The biggest test could happen when I leave. A trailer was to turn up after my shift, and the burden was placed on people who have no clue what they are doing. They have an idea. But no clue.

So I gave a quick training session before I left and shared my unfinished side project. This should help them a little and ease some stress.

But I have a feeling it may never show. I will find out tonight.

On my way to work, NeNes window decided to stop working. I had to move the window by hand back into place. So that was fun.

Friday 17th

It was a nice, easy night at work. There were more than enough people to work all of the areas, and everything was done pretty quickly. I even had extra time to tip a trailer myself.

I am still having one problem with a missing trailer, and have been asked to fill in a form. Contacting security, they double-checked something for me, and I received an email when I got home that confirmed my suspicions.

At home, I rested and sent out requests on job sites for help with NeNe. But at the moment, no joy.

Saturday 18th

I woke up just after midnight. I sat down with the missus until she decided to go to bed. She isn’t feeling well.

Doomscrolling and watching a couple of programs, I decided to have a nap, but instead I suffered a massive cramp attack in my left calf. This was different, as it had always happened in my right calf.

It subsided, and I stopped screaming in pain and rested until I went to bed for a nap.

Just after midday, we got up, and the plan was to start on the rust on NeNe, remove and clean it with some rust prevention I have had since my motorcycle.

So, instead, I have spent the day in pain with my wife, who is still not well.

Later on, the wife received a message from my brother about some plants at work. Naturally, we took a look, and I decided to pop over quickly and grab a couple.

Returning home, I returned to my seclusion, writing my blog on the Freewrite in the dark in the bedroom. I also continued with my book club book. I am enjoying the mystery.

The long countdown has begun until I can watch WrestleMania. It is a few more hours away on my stream site, but I still have to wait.

Sunday 19th

I should have gone to bed, but I made myself stay and watch most of WrestleMania until I couldn’t hold on any longer and went to sleep. After a few hours, I continued again. I almost wish I hadn’t. It was bad.

It was the last day off before work, so I continued getting everything prepared for work before bed.

I wasn’t in a good mood driving to work tonight. As I drove, I was in two minds. Should I drive away from my responsibilities? Keep going until I can drive no more. Or go to work. But in the end, my responsibilities took precedence, and so I went to work.

Monday 20th

Work left me numb as I went through my routine, and it wasn’t until I could place my emotions into something that I was able to come out of the cloud I was under.

My little experiments are still alive. We will see if anything comes from it.

The end of the shift was annoying when the last delivery arrived, and everyone I needed, who could have possibly helped me, had disappeared. I had to get help from someone who didn’t know what to do. So I had to give them a very quick rundown, and I said I was sorry as I had to leave.

When I finally got home, I finished sharing and uploading my latest video and continued with Day 2 of WrestleMania.

Attack!

After watching the first match, I was sad to see what Brock Lesnar did. So much so that I started crying. I was wondering why. It became clear a little later that that was only the start of a full-on panic attack. I went to cook up a pizza, and that’s when it fully took over. As with all of my attacks, I never get the same one twice. And this was the same as I experienced a new version. I can only assume that I have been getting stronger, as normally my head takes control, but this time it was my emotions.

I also experienced panic breathing problems in this version. It took a while to calm down, but I was still not in a good place.

When everything was more or less settled, I went back to watch wrestling and had my pizza. When I was ready, I went to bed.

Waking up, I eventually gave in and decided not to go to work. I was still stuttering. Generally, it’s not an issue. But stuttering means I am exhausted, and I have not recovered. So after making a cup of tea, the wife brought me some biscuits, and I started on my next video.

Tuesday 21st

I finish my video and start uploading it for next week. I also wrote this blog and doomscrolled for a while.

Nothing much to do today except rest.

I am not completely healed, but I am hopeful that some sleep will help.

Wednesday 22nd

Work was a little different as I walked in to find that the paperwork hadn’t been finished from the past couple of days, so my first job was to catch up. And I was for it. I had some help, so I was able to concentrate on the job. When I was done with that, I jumped onto a counterbalance and helped tip a trailer.

The work wasn’t finished by the time I left. This was down to a trailer coming in late. So I will need to catch up with the paperwork when I come in tonight.

Waking up for work, while catching up with Jenny and Nicky, I published my latest book report. And also caught up with my life blog.

As I finished my latest book club book. I get to pick out my next read. The book is something I have been waiting to read for a long time.

I also recieved an email from someone at work wanting to discuss some improvements I am hoping to achieve. We will see what happens.

Thursday 23rd

Today went really well. I did have a problem with the paperwork being taken before it was completed. But as it was quiet, I was able to sort it out between my other jobs.

I was a little annoyed at myself, I had forgotten my thermos flask, so I was unable to have my usual cups of tea during the night. I know first-world problems!

My meeting with someone to help with some restoration went well and was slightly better than expected. I got a bit weird during the conversation, and the other person got a little worried. Anxiety and coldness took over. I let them know this is normal for me and there was nothing to worry about.

But I have to get as much information and ideas sent out by the end of the month to help configure how the boards are going to look.

The only thing I couldn’t do was finish an email I was in the middle of doing. But I can do that when I come back on Saturday.

Friday 24th

I woke up just before midnight and went about my usual routine.

I am happy with myself for going through my emails and clearing them out. Maybe I should sort out my paperwork as well, but I don’t want to push it.

It took a while, but my email app has been glitching for the past couple of days, but it seems to be working for now.

Saturday 25th

Returning to work, I have to catch up with some unfinished paperwork. Which is fine and expected, but then to find that I have to correct everything else as it wasn’t done properly is a little annoying. But I am in creative mode, and I only have a few days to get everything finished to send it away to be built.

In updating my emails, I forgot to update the other folder. So that has brought me down a little. But I will finish it later.

I am trying out some new products for my beard. I have never used balm before; it feels weird. But we will see what happens.

Sunday 26th

We went old skool today. I went back to my original job when I started working here, back to replenishing on the shop floor. My apprentice was able to take over as there wasn’t much to do. And I enjoyed it. I embraced the quietness as it was and worked through the pallets as they arrived.

Of course, I still had to cook, and I couldn’t continue with my side project, but apart from that, it was a nice shift.

At home, I rested, remembered to watch my wrestling and went through my routine. I went to bed really late as we did a little online shopping. And because I couldn’t be bothered to go to bed.

Monday 27th

Around half one in the morning, I finally woke up and got out of bed. Still tired, I could have slept the rest of the night, but I wanted my wife to get to bed. So I got up.

The night was the usual doomscrolling and watching an episode of something. I remembered I had my latest video to share, so while watching the latest Jenny and Nicky video, I did just that.

I was a bit shocked when I came around to writing this blog and found I had 18 comments on my page waiting to be approved. A couple of days ago, I had a two. But today, there was nothing but what seemed to be spam. Most of the comments had links I couldn’t read, so they were deleted, which is a shame, as I am happy to help someone who deserves it.

So out of twenty, I let through one.

I am knackered, I have had barely an hour’s kip, and I have to get up for work. As I wasn’t sleeping, I read a few more chapters of my latest read. It wasn’t until nearly the last hour that I started to relax and nod off. So I am going to make do and go to bed a lot earlier when I get home tomorrow.

Tuesday 28th

It seemed like a busy night until it slowly wasn’t. I am still trying to finish my second project, but I am held back by other jobs that need to be sorted or that pop up. But I get my main jobs done just before going home.

At home, I have something to eat, and watch some wrestling before I head to sleep earlier than normal. As I didn’t sleep much yesterday, I need to catch up.

Nearly nine hours later, I am up again for work. I have been having trouble finding the right images for my latest video, so I decided to make a blacked-out video instead. I have my thumbnail. So it should come out well.

I am realising that I am coming to the end of the month, and I will need to wrap up this month’s blog soon. Some things are missing; I will need to add them later. So I am feeling the rush.

Wednesday 29th

A nice, easy night at work. Everything went at a normal pace. No rushing was needed as all of the work was finished long before the end of the shift. I was able to continue with my second side project and give some training.

I have been asked to start a shift next month. Which would mean I would have to go in a couple of hours early and run the shop until the next person comes in. Apparently, all the management is going somewhere, and no one will be available to start the shift.

They are going to leave me in charge. I will have to learn a few things, but it should be fine.

I have done pretty well. Since waking up at nine, I have finished and published my book report, updated my blog, done my exercises, finished uploading Monday’s video and watched the latest episode of Jenny and Nicky. My wife saw me doing this and also insisted that I know everything that has happened to her and her plants today.

She walked away as I couldn’t give her my full attention, not understanding that I had to get everything done in less than two hours before leaving for work. But I am done. Arms in the air with success.

Thursday 30th

Another slow-paced night, where everyone was relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. The work was done fairly quickly, and by the time of the second break, we were pretty much done.

I hadn’t finished the new board, but I had done enough within the time limit. So I sent all my work and emailed the person dealing with it, and I am hoping it will be up and ready very soon.

Now I can return to my original project. And maybe find a way to get my original project started up again.

Finishing up my routine at home, I rested until it was time for bed. My latest read is now complete, and I can now pick out my next book before going back to work for the final night before my day off.

Thank you for checking in on my boring life, and I will see you next month.
