We Are Going Away To The Lake
Day 6 – But Day 1 of 3.
Today we are going away for our anniversary.
Tiffany will have the sacred honour of taking us.
The day started like it would any other.
I got up, and then the wife, and then she got herself some breakfast. Meanwhile, I continued finishing my blogs and a cup of tea.
After I had finished writing, I got on with my exercises. And then after that, we finished off our packing. When it was time: we finished loading up Tiffany and said goodbye to our home. Making sure Hank had some sunlight while we were away and placing him on the rack with the other plants. He seemed to like it.
We switched everything off except the fridge and freezer. Oh, And her YouView box so she can watch her soaps. When we get back.
The journey wasn’t very long but enjoyable. I was making sure to turn when Google told me to.
The Inn on the Lake Hotel
Arriving at the hotel car park you could see that the front area looks out onto the motorway. We arrived a little early. So, we decided to have a drink; while we waited for our room to be ready. Eight bloody quid later for a pint of Diet Pepsi and an Archers and lemonade. And people wonder why we don’t go out often.
My first impressions are pretty good. It has an aged feel about the place, with low lighting, old-style furniture and slightly weird decor. But the oldy style actually works, in my opinion.
We got the card to our room. We were a tad sad that we weren’t on the ground floor. But the room had a really great view.
This is what the room looks like:
The suite.
As shown above, the room is pretty nice. Large enough to swing a cat or two.
The Bathroom.
The view we paid twenty quid for. One great shame about this room is due to the windows. Although they are lovely open windows. Compared to how it used to be with a door to the balcony. I would have loved to sit with a cup of tea and enjoy the view.
I didn’t bring my travel laptop with me this time. But I did bring with me my tablet and my Bluetooth keyboard. So I can still write my blog. But I won’t be able to upload my photos or the blog until I get home.
We spent the rest of the day resting in the room, enjoying the view and the TV while the wife fought with three flies because I had left the window open.
We brought some snacks with us, and we enjoyed them while we relaxed.
One annoyance at the moment is that there was no welcome pack. Details of the building or area. Contact details for the reception. Fire exit plans. I thought this was a basic necessity for hotels.
We wanted to order some food. In the end, we went downstairs and spoke to reception. They told us that there is a charge of 10% on top of the already expensive food. To deliver the food to our room.
All in all. It wasn’t that bad of a first day. When travelling, you need to get used to the new surroundings, new people, stupid prices and finally, no home comforts.
But enough moaning for now. After all that, it was time for bed.
