Things I Have Re-Watched #1
So I have rewatching some old shows while there wasn’t much to watch recently. So I started with Eureka.
Eureka was a show that was on Syfy in 2006 and lasted five seasons ending in 2012. The show was also known as ‘A Town Called Eureka’. It’s about a small town where all of the residents are scientists, geniuses of every field. Most work for a company called Global Dynamics. This was all created with the military after the second world war. But there has been an underground idea that Eureka should be for the scientists. For the growth of ideas and not building weapons for the government.
It all starts with Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) taking his runaway daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) home to L.A. And Jack transferring to a new position in the Marshals office. So he can be closer to his daughter. They took the back roads and of course, Jack wouldn’t admit it. They were lost. A dog runs across the road making them crash in to a tree. But just before Zoe sees themselves coming from the other direction driving away.
They walk into town. Jack drops Zoe off in the Sheriff’s cell with Deputy Jo Lupo (Erica Cerra) while he went to find Henry Deacon (Joe Morton). He’s the local mechanic and jack of all trades scientist.
This leads to Jack helping in the disappearance of a child and meeting love interest Alison Blake (Salli Richardson). He impresses her and everyone by outsmarting the geniuses by using a different kind of smarts. Which, in the end, leads him in to being the new Sheriff. After the previous Sheriff (Maury Chaykin) has a “accident” at home. And ends up fixing all the near earth ending disasters that may or not happen every week. Also trying to understand what the hell the people are talking about half the time.
Jack also lives in an A.I house named S.A.R.A.H. Created by Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston).
Re-watching made me fall in love with it over again. The connections between the characters feels real and the nerdiness, even if I didn’t understand some of science. They try to explain the consequences of what they are trying to achieve. As they have Jack for your point of view.
This an awesome show that has a bit of everything for the whole family: Comedy, drama, sci-fi, romance, fantasy and action. The whole caboodle. So if you haven’t. Give it a go. I am trying to get it on blu-ray. But have found that it was only release in Germany.
