So What’s Been Happening Recently?#3

Christmas 2017
It was pretty much like any other day off from work. Myself and the wife had gone to bed after watching some telly and having some food. As usual I went to bed a little later than the missus and got up before she did. The presents were under the Christmas tree and everything was quite. Apart from whatever I was watching on the computer.
I had decided to put my pork joint on early as the wife doesn’t really like the smell of the meat. I didn’t have a turkey, as tradition dictates. I don’t mind it. It’s just I don’t have time and patience to spend a few hours making sure it doesn’t come out dry. The wife woke up wondering what the smell was.
After the wife had finished moaning about the pork she went into Christmas mode. Acting like any typical kid on Christmas morning. Getting all giddy, not sure what to do first, breakfast or prezzies. DUH! Prezzies of course.
From the previous day we had got a couple of dvds from my sister. Studio Ghibli The Red Turtle, for me and Castle season 8 for her. We was given money from my mum. My brother has weird ideas for presents so he had got me a childs size guitar and a samurai sword, with some books.
I bought my wife some dvds for her collections Grimm season 5, Call the Midwife series 4 and 5, Elementary Season 4, Sleepy Hollow Season 3, Baywatch season 3, Baywatch: Hawaiian Reunion. I also got her a couple of Funko Pops: My Little Pony – Twilight Sparkle and Ludo from Labyrinth. She had asked for the complete Maroon 5 Collection. So that’s what I got her. I found out that three members of Maroon 5 had originally started with as a different band called Kara’s Flowers. I wasn’t able to buy all of the albums for two of Kara’s Flowers and one of Maroon 5 as they pretty much didn’t exist anymore. So I did the next best thing and made physical copies myself by downloading the albums and buying printable blank CDs. Then searching the internet for the right covers.
The last thing I had bought her was a figurine of Jareth from Labyrinth. I had pre-ordered this in April. The fun I had dissuading my wife from buying it when she found it every couple of months. When she had saved it on her various accounts I would sneak in and delete them. It also helped that she is pretty forgetful as each time she saw the figurine, it was like seeing it for the first time.
I received some dvds Red Dwarf series 11 and 12. Blu Rays of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan and Blood and Chrome. Doctor Who Series 9 dvd. A giant olde shop container of dolly mixtures and lastly I got a Keyring Funko Pop of Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty.
The rest of the day was pretty relaxed, we had Christmas dinner. I had my pork joint and she had her Quorn chicken roast, vegetarian chicken alternative.Watched some films and watched the Christmas traditional Doctor who. The wife continues to roll her eyes up at Doctor Who, but for someone who can’t get enough. She’s in denial.

I thought it would be a great idea to upgrade my phone. Not buy a new phone but upgrade the phone software. So I searched online for a ROM to help me. I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I loved this phone I had it for five years and thought it was time for a new phone but I wasn’t ready to buy one yet. So I found a rom website and set to work on installing the software. It pretty much worked. I did everything the instructions said to do but after getting the phone up and running the phone would go into a start up loop and after several attempts to fix it, I decided I screwed up and I needed to get a new phone.
So after many long browsings, and the Westworld phone not being ready. I went for the LG V30. I went with this because the new Note 8 didn’t appeal to me, the screen was too narrow and I don’t really like the curved sides.  I found this website that gave me the deal that the main phone companies couldn’t come anywhere near. I also found a ten pound discount so the upfront cost was cheaper. At the time I was getting unlimited calls and texts an 5gb of data for £13.20pm. With the new phone I was getting the same except 4gb of data, with the upfront fee, minus £10, was £65 upfront and £23pm, for 24 months. Which the phone shops were charging double.
So I bought the phone. Then the next lot of fun happened. All I wanted was my old number on my new phone. This led to two weeks of talking back and forth with Vodafone. Deleting my old account for the new account. Being told different things about how they were going to sort this out. Until they just sent me a new sim card and finally it worked.
I also bought a really nice case after trying to get a similar one to my original on the Note 3 and failing.
