So What’s Been Happening Recently? #31

Day 4: Time To Go Home. I Don’t WANNA!!!

26th July

So today’s the day we say goodbye to Folkestone. We had set our alarm for 6 am. So of course we woke up at 5 to 5.

The wife tries to take pictures of the sun rise but it’s already up and was content with just taking some last pics. Whilst using her phone, to take some photos, a seagull landed on the ledge in front of the our window. Trying not to freak out. She closed the window enough so the bird wouldn’t climb in. Thinking, the whole time, that she recorded the whole thing. Disappointed when she realised she hadn’t. Getting her camera for a few more pics. She finds out she’s lost her SD card so had to borrow mine. We would find it later.

We get ourselves ready to leave and had enough time to go get some breakfast. So we went down.

The food, like before, was good. The staff were friendly, easy to talk to. We shared a pot of tea and relaxed and enjoyed the food.

The sun had come out for our leave and we went back upstairs and finished packing while we waited for our lift home.

Our lift arrived and we went down to meet them. Finalising our bill. We were on our way.

So The Southcliff Hotel. Was it any good? All in all, yes. Despite the many faults with the place. They provided us with a home away from home experience. I would go back again. They do need to update the rooms and maybe invest in upgrading their internet.

Please be aware the hallways are narrow when carrying luggage. The lift is small with enough room for a couple of people and some bags. But love the old style of it.

The staff helped anyway they could. Providing all that we needed. But don’t expect the earth from them. This is a 2 star hotel. They provided what they could and it was more than enough. They have a bar, which we didn’t use. So can’t review that but the breakfast was great. Very satisfying. So well done Southcliff Hotel. Good job.

The journey home took about an hour. Almost wishing we were still in Folkestone. knowing we had to go back to work the next day.

We unpacked and got ourselves settled in and waited for the Tesco delivery I ordered before we left. Which was due in a few hours. I went into my “office” and started to get these blogs on the move. While rewatching the Arrowverse. Meanwhile the wife played Animal Crossing and watched Youtube videos of people playing Animal Crossing. She’s addicted.

I am hoping we can do this again later this year. Maybe try another place next time. Any recommendations? It has to be somewhere near or on the beach.
