So What’s Been Happening Recently? #29

Day 2: Why Is Everything On A Bloody Hill?

24th July

It’s barely 5 in the morning and the missus is already getting up and making sure I get up saying ‘HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!’ All I can think is fuck sake leave me alone woman. Get off me. My bones are tired.

24th July 2007 was the date. It’s been 13 years of marriage and 18 years together. How? I don’t know. But for some reason the missus still wants to be with me.

The sleep wasn’t the best. The bed is terrible. It’s two singles joined together. The room is just one room with a midget size shower/ toilet enclosed room. With a sliding door that doesn’t completely closed properly. Our toilet flush button has broken. So I have had to take the the top off to flush. I am now having a cup of tea whilst writing this bit before, in about a couple of hours, we will go down for breakfast. But all in all with all the problems with the room. I like it. It feels homely not like a normal hotel. Oh and internet here is bad. It keeps cutting out.

So we went down for breakfast and had it wasn’t bad. Pretty standard for a hotel. Cereal, Juice, tea and toast and the order of the fry up.

There was also a cock up with communication. Where the server thought we were a single man staying in the room. Which was nice.

Heading out we met up with the manager and told him about the broken toilet braking again. We were going out anyway but he said he would look in to it. We had made it to the statue on the roundabout when I had realise I had left my SD card back in the room and the wife’s camera batteries had run out. So we headed to the find a newsagent to buy some batteries.

Getting back to the room I collected my SD card and sorted the wife’s camera. We started again our journey to the harbour.

We walked past the war memorial again and notice a few more things I didn’t see the day before.

Walking past the memorial we came to the top of the hill. Damn it’s a steep hill! We get to the bottom eventually, with falling over. We don’t know where we are so we are just wondering around for a while trying not to look lost. When finally, we happened upon the harbour. It was nice. All compact in one little area. The view of the cliffs in the distance was pretty cool.

We thought this was weird.

Stopping in Cex on the way back. I tried to take the same sort of idea as I did yesterday by taking the easiest journey. But this time I tried for the flattest roads. Which nearly worked. Following the shop route only a couple small parts of the roads gradient went a little too high. We are really out of shape.

Try out my mask a friend of the family made. Apparently made out of pillow cases. I don’t like it. As much as I try. I can’t stop my glasses from steaming up. The wife finally decided on the blu rays she wanted to buy and we left.

Back at the hotel. We were approached by the manager who offered us a new room. Which was a major improvement on what we had before. We moved straight away.

Settled in, the wife finally crashed on the bed. The bed was a lot better. To think it wasn’t even midday at this point. We had achieved alot since 5 this morning.

About 3 hours later we had ordered a delivery of burger and chips. Through Just Eat. From a Chippy called Cheriton Fish & Chips. The food was good. The only complaint was from the missus for having watery mushy peas. The Monging continued.

We didn’t do anything else for the rest of the day.
