So What’s Been Happening Recently? #13

So it’s been a while since my last blog. A few things have happened. So let’s get started.
My 41st birthday in March happened. I got up as per usual and got ready for the day. My wife had got me a few things. Which was cool. She had got me Star Trek: Enterprise, Blu Ray box set. Star Trek: Voyager DVD box set. You can’t buy this in Blu ray as it hasn’t been made.

I also received a Blu Ray and CD set ‘Live From Telia Parken’ and another album ‘Rock the Rebel/ Metal the Devil’ from one of my favourite bands. Volbeat. Only one problem though, I already had the ‘Rock the Rebel/ Metal the Devil’ album. Not really a big deal. But still appreciated.
After spending the morning with the missus. It was time to go out. I had plans to meet up with my brother at the Vue cinema. We all went to see Captain Marvel.
The film was really good. Telling the tale of Carol Danvers. How she got her powers and getting her memories back, during flashbacks, while she fought the Skulls. Believing them to be trying to invade earth. All being set during the 90’s and during the time of grunge.

Stan Lee had died recently and at the intro of the Marvel Studio 10 years title sequence, was a amazing tribute to all his cameos and his life he gave to Marvel. The cameo in the film was brilliant.          If you didn’t know who Stan Lee was, first of all. Shame on you. He helped create or in some cases created some of the most iconic characters we know today. The Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Spider man, Iron Man and many more. He had been the face of Marvel for decades.                                                                 During the early 90’s Stan Lee guest starred in a film called Mallrats. Directed by Kevin Smith. If you don’t know who Kevin Smith is. His alter ego in some of his movies is a character called Silent Bob. His more famous movies were Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back. If you still don’t know him, then I would recommend Dogma. As it’s the better of the two. Although the other is still a great film.

Anyway the sequence happened when Captain Marvel was chasing a disguised Skrull. Skrulls are shape shifters. And as she give chase, she stops and smiles at Stan Lee as he sits, reading the script for Mallrats. Which means Kevin Smith is now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This left Kevin a blubbering wreck, he’s a very emotional bloke. After Kevin Feige, president of the MCU, told him over the phone. Kevin had been close friends with Stan for many years.
If you haven’t seen the film yet I do recommend. you find out how Nick Fury ends up with an eye patch. If you’re really interested.
After the film my brother and my wife started trying to debate the difference between Hulk and Captain Marvel. They were both wrong by the way. After watching the end credits we went outside to meet up with my other brother and his girlfriend for our evening meal.
I had decided on Wagamama to try out some proper Japanese Ramen. The food wasn’t the greatest to be honest. I don’t know if it was the fact we didn’t understand the ingredients in the ramen, but just no. We also tried something with duck in it. Same. But the chocolate cake. Bloody Hell it was good. Aside from all that we enjoyed ourselves. The company was good. And sometimes that’s all the matters.
The night was over and we said our goodbyes and went home. I had a two pending dates due to a phone call a couple of days before. When a date was called for my surgery. Tuesday would be my Pre-Op again and the Thursday my surgery. I had already nearly had a month off work and this now meant I would be off for a few more weeks. The agony would be a pain in my arse.
