So What’s Been Happening Recently? #1

Hello again. I wanted to write down and tell you what I have been up to for the last five or six months until the present. I will start on the 29th October 2017 as it ends with a bonus later in November.
My wife wanted to learn how to ride a scooter. So I looked around searching to borrow or loan a bike out for the day to give her some experience. Which would lead to her finally deciding whether she would like to continue with her dream, of owning a Vespa. She had set her sites on a classic model.

Then one day I stumbled upon a company called Get On. They spend the year going around the country, giving free one-hour lessons. I believe they have now changed it to forty-five minutes. This gives anyone wanting to learn or get back into riding a motorcycle or scooter, a basic C.B.T course.
The first time we went they refused my wife because she hadn’t ridden a bicycle before and sent us away. I, of course, was a bit pissed about this, as they had never mentioned this at any time until we had arrived. We spent a couple of hours getting there. So I went to work on their Facebook page, giving them an earful. This went towards the usual apologise and setting up a second date on the 29th October 2017. After I had made the complaint. They placed on their website information about being able to ride a bicycle.

I will give them their due. The instructor was brilliant. He was patient with my wife as her confidence isn’t great. My wife took her time and enjoyed it. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in bike riding. Hopefully one day my wife will get back on the saddle.
When Get On offered a new date. They also offered two free tickets to the MCM Birmingham Motorcycle Show. We had a choice of the course or the show. We chose the course but they sent us the tickets anyway.
So on the 23rd November 2017. Myself, the father-in-law and his friend, headed to Birmingham. I had made sausage sarnies and boiled some eggs, to save money at the services. My wife couldn’t come at the very last minute due to a massive migraine.
We got there a little later than expected, due to the father-in-law. He had recently come back from a driving holiday around Europe and had altered his sat nav to miss out on all of the motorways, due to the tolls. He had forgotten to change it back and because of this, we ended up an hour later than scheduled.
The bike show was massive and had plenty to view. We set ourselves the task of seeing how many freebies we could get our hands on. There really wasn’t that much available, but we took what we could get. You had the usual young ladies parading around the different stands, handing out leaflets and freebies. Some of them looked bad. I remember one, skinny girl. She probably was an attractive-looking girl. But you couldn’t tell with the amount of makeup and hair spray on her. It would have been easier and quicker to put one of those latex masks on, it was that bad. She didn’t look at all comfortable walking around the stage.

The was plenty to see from all the brands and loads of items for sale. Clothing, helmets, tech. I was looking for a new long coat but there was nothing I really fancied. I was also trying to keep an eye out for the latest in electric motorbikes. But nothing stood out. I was surprised Zero wasn’t there. After a few hours, we had seen pretty much-seen everything. I did want to do some test rides but the queues were massive, there was no chance. So we made our way home.
