Going Home From The Inn On The Lake

Day 8 – But day 3 of 3

We woke early again this morning, and we didn’t feel great; I think the sun and the gnat bites had gotten to me, and my depression was kicking in. All I wanted to do was to go home. Like last week!

My right hand had swollen to a boxing glove, also my left hand but not as much. My neck has a swollen lump on it. The wife’s legs haven’t swollen up, but she has a lot of punctures.

As lovely as the place is. I had an anchoring to get out and away as quickly as possible. The wife felt more or less the same as I did.

Our one and only mission we had was: GO HOME!

We got ourselves ready to leave; we needed to be in a position where all we had to do was pick up our belongings and head to Tiffany. But before we could go home, I needed to build my energy levels up to get us home; I could do it without eating. But putting it simply: I had paid for it, and I am getting my money’s worth.

The missus wasn’t up for it, though I managed to get her to eat something.

Afterwards, it was time to go: Grabbing our things and putting everything into Tiffany.

We made our way home; It didn’t take Tiffany long before we were back to where we could rest.

The Inn on the Lake

Right from the beginning, I would like to point out that I am a cheapskate; If I can, and I have the means of getting something cheaper or for free, and it’s reasonably good, I am going for it. But sadly, I will pay out if needed.

Also, I do like to moan a lot.

The price we paid was £150 for two nights. This included breakfast. Twenty pounds of the total was so we could have the view that we got. Being in our mental state, it was worth every penny.

The building itself: From the car park entrance. It’s okay; a bit dated, but nothing to write home about. The interior had some cooky features and low lighting.

Which helped us relax a lot.

This is not an ordinary light fixture. And that’s why we loved it.

The back exterior is the selling point of the whole complex. And they know it. After all, if you are not taking advantage of that. Then you’re a bloody idiot. The back area is absolutely brilliant from a mental health standpoint. I am surprised that they don’t do yoga days or meditation sessions. But where they could have people sitting on the decking.

But there is one problem. They are in the middle of nowhere which could stop this from working adequately. Even if they did weekends, it might work. But I get why they stick with weddings and seminars.

Staff: In general, they were okay. Friendly and helpful. But I did notice, from time to time. That they didn’t communicate well, or they didn’t have full knowledge of all the goings on in the hotel. Even the website is not up to date. Last time I checked.

The Room

The wife wasn’t happy with the room because; all the surfaces were sticky. With I don’t know what.

I have said this before. There should be a folder or booklet. That Informs people about the hotel and what it offers: a menu. Instead, we had to get this from reception, where they had it all in a folder at the front desk.

I would like to know where the fire points are: in case of an emergency. What are the local attractions? Maybe some leaflets. Alternative takeaway food delivery services when you don’t have the kitchen open. I would like to know if there is a local taxi service I could use. Maybe a history of the area and building. Even a number to call reception. It’s “0,” by the way. We had to go to the reception, defeating the purpose of a phone in the room.

These simple things could help people a lot.

The bathroom was nice as everything was average home size. Our toilet seat was broken but usable. We didn’t mention it, so it didn’t get fixed. The television was a little on the small size. But I could live with it.

Food

This is where you might get a little stung.

As you are in the middle of nowhere. Make sure. If you are staying overnight, you have breakfast included. Food made at the hotel is at pub restaurant prices. Also, you could bring some cash with you as they have vending machines. Alternatively, you can carry some food and drink with you. To save some money. Another trick is if you need some water for your room. Ask for a pitcher of water. They will supply you with a wine bottle of cold tap water.

Room service with food costs 10% on top of what you are ordering.

So Would We Come Back?

All in all, now I know what I know. I would be more prepared for next time. But the answer would be yes. With all its little quirks, I do like this place a lot. Even if you don’t go anywhere, All you need to do is sit by your window or sit in the garden and relax. Meditate, have a nap, or read a book. Do you need a little help with your mental health? This could maybe help some of you with that.

Alternatively, you are surrounded by a forest. That was the selling point for why we came. The Shorne Woods Country Park is a short stroll up the road.

If I do come back again, I would like to get a ground-floor room. They are called the Cherry Blossom rooms. They have patio doors. We could feel much closer to the lake and grass.

Home Again

We sorted out our luggage and settled into being home again. I received my delivery from Currys, and after finding out one of the items wasn’t going to work set about returning it.

Why does Currys not want people to return their bought items? If they did, they would make the process a lot easier.

We were both exhausted. We hadn’t really done that much, but it didn’t matter. I suppose being bit several times didn’t help.

The wife had a nap, and I continued to relax and have a blog ready to be published.
