Welcome to Brighton #3

Day 3

22nd July 2021

I am woken up early and I am freezing. The temperature dropped, during the night. I had to actually use the duvet and wrap myself up. I also closed the window. I did fall asleep again and woke again, about an hour later.

I slowly go and get ready for the day and my body was nakered. The previous day had taken its toll. I ached. The wife was the same. We are not very fit people. Yes, we work in physically demanding jobs but we don’t do general exercise. Like walking, running or cardio. So we aren’t use to the long distance walking we did yesterday. I may have to see the doctor again for my hip.

Breakfast was a welcome sight as we enjoyed the nourishment. We had another big day planned out. So our energy’s had to be high. After the big breakfast, we started out for another day. We walked across the road to the beach to take in the sea air. This is where we decided we couldn’t do any more frog marching again so we took the bus to our destination. It wasn’t long for our bus to turn up and we were on our way.

First stop Oliver’s Brighton ( Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube). This is a Harry Potter shop. It’s a small shop. I mean small, cosy even. They have a limited amount of stock. But it’s presented well and the owner is a gracious host. Happy to please as best he can. The thing is: if you would like to visit, you need to make an appointment. This is due to the size of the place. It can get crowded very easily. So to help with this, making an appointment helps you enjoy the full experience and get the full undivided attention of the proprietor. The layout is the standard Harry Potter décor. I have visit the Experience and the King’s Cross shop and this fits in well with them. They’re knowledge is on par and have no problems with any related questions.

We arrived and the place was closed, even those it was supposed to be opened at 10am. After taking some pictures of the shop. Oliver came to the door expecting that we would be someone else. He went on to explain that we had to book an appointment. But as he’s next appointment had not arrived yet. We could pop in quickly until his appointment arrived. So that’s what we did. This is what we purchased:

After we finally left. We moved on to the next place on the wife’s list. Brighton Toy and Model Museum ( Facebook, Blogger, Twitter, YouTube). Which luckily was only across the road. We entered and paid the price of admission. I must point out that this is the only place that asked for a mask to be worn. I did comply, as this is there place and I didn’t want to spoil it for the wife. Even though the person asking this, wasn’t wearing one.

This is what we saw:

We enjoyed looking around the toys. They had a couple of puppets my dad use to have. The train displays have buttons so you can send the trains on there way. I do also enjoy a good helicopter. Steam engines have always fascinated me ever since I was a kid. A steam train that isn’t a steam train that goes on the road. All the different shapes. It is all pretty cool.

But alas, we must move on. From here we had no more plans, well we did. But gave them up to go back to the pier again. So we were off. Until I saw this amazing wall. This wall is across the road from the museum.

From here we made our way to the bus station. I couldn’t find the bus stop we needed. So I just asked the next bus driver that came along. And luckily he was going in our direction. Jumping on and finding seats. we were on our way. With the help of the person who got on in front of us. We got off near the grassy area we rested the day before. As we walked long we turned our heads and saw this:

I believe the building is called the Royal Pavilion. We never went all the way round. But I think it is open to the public. The gardens around the small area we visited was really cool. Maybe next we come down we can have a proper look. But those grabbers won’t play themselves. So off we went, to the pier.

We play a few more games inside the arcade. I tried some ticket machines and ended up with enough to get this:

I am so proud of myself.

The wife didn’t win anything this time. But made up for it in the tourist shop. Where she bought herself this:

It does this:

I picked something as well. As I needed some more mugs:

After all that fun we made our way back to the hotel. This time we walked along the promenade. Along the sea front. We grabbed a slush puppy and took a slow walk back.

There is alot to see on the promenade. Shops, food sellers, fair rides, live shows. Although when we walked past someone was killing Yellow by Coldplay. And not in the good way. Eventually we got back and we decided to relax for the rest of the day.

We did order Pizza Hut. And this time we didn’t have any problems.

That evening the moon was out and I enjoyed taking in the view.

Tomorrow we go home.
