So What’s Been Happening Recently? #26
Wife’s Birthday day out.
7th March 2020
Today is my wife’s birthday and the day is set for whatever she wants. She decided that she wanted to return to a place we had visited in 2012, which was also on her birthday. The Sherlock Holmes museum in Baker street, London.
After making our way down there we went in to the shop. The way this works is that to go into the museum you have to purchase the tickets inside the shop and of course whilst in there you have a need to collect some goodies. Sadly you aren’t allowed to take photos from inside the shop. And the photos we have from last time don’t really match how the shop looks now. Although similar.
Our tickets were a leaflet with a brief history of the story of Sherlock Holmes.
They marked this side.
To go into the museum we had to go outside and queue.
Entering the museum we were directed to Sherlock’s office and then bedroom where a french man gave us a brief description of how Sherlock Holmes lived his life.
After the introduction we were free to roam the rest of the museum. Next on the tour was Mrs Hudson’s room.
Dr. Watson’s room
Up another level and the next two rooms are scenes from his various stories.
What’s up there? Hello
Around the Museum is lot of paintings and photos.
Also a sweeper.
Then the very top:
When we had finished we stepped outside. The museum was being fixed up so it wasn’t showing off its full glory.
This is what it’s supposed to look like:
If you do plan to visit. Please be warned that anyone in a wheelchair or unable to climb narrow stairs. This is not for you. As it is a compact building there isn’t alot of space for anything.
Next door if you do want to come and have a look there is a shop dedicated to the beatles.
And across the road, a shop for those who love Rock.
Driving to our next destination. I caught a glimpse at a building called Chiltern Court on the Baker street. This is where the author H.G.Wells lived and worked. Also Arnold Bennett. I don’t really know anything about him. He was also an author and journalist.
A drive by shooting
We made it to our next destination. A place of wonder called Forbidden Planet
The missus enjoyed herself and couldn’t decide how much money she didn’t have to purchase everything she could see. So she ended up with these items:
After we were done we headed home. But first we picked up a takeaway for KFC. The wife wanted to try out the vegan burger. She quite enjoyed it, alot. I tried a piece of the burger. It was okay it didn’t really taste much of anything but spices.
And then a slice of birthday cake.
