So What’s Been Happening Recently? #19

October 31st 2019

Halloween. Today the scares were not for me but for my wife. We had to go to the hospital to get a blood test done. The thing is my wife does not like needles. The ‘does not like’ being, that when she goes to have a blood test. Her body packs up on her. So to help her with this we enlist the help of Temazepam.

The father-in-law turned up to take us to Basildon Hospital. We got comfortable and the wife took her medicine. It kicked in pretty quickly, then she was up with the clouds. Giggling and saying random stuff. This was when I decided to play my prank.

She started calling me and I said nothing. After a few attempts The father-in-law caught on to what I was doing. The wife started asking where I was and he said that I had jumped out and would meet us there at the hospital. At this point, we were travelling down the A13 at the time and there was no way I could do that.

But she seemed to believe it, in her current state.

We reached the hospital and I jumped out of the van and stood by her door and looked at her. It took her a while to notice me. She was happy to see me asking where did I go. I just smiled at her, opened the door and helped her out. Walking in she started saying things like ‘Why are we walking fast?’ When we barely moving and ‘I can’t feel my legs, laughing at that fact. My wife is now asking me as I write this. ‘Is that true?’ ‘That can’t be right.’

Anyway, we get inside and she is still rambling on when we finally get called into the room. I have her bag with a sugary drink and snack if she needed it. She sits down and she already apologises to the nurse and explains, in length. About why she is the way she is. The nurse is okay with it all but I did notice that, near the end, she was trying to ignore everything happening and wanted to get on with her job.

The blood extraction took a bit longer than usual because they were testing for more than the usual amount of things. So instead of two tubes, she use four. Using the tiniest needle I had seen. This was because she was having trouble finding a vein. She had a massive bruise for nearly two weeks.

It was over and we waited while the missus sorted herself out as much as she could, as high as she was. After having a drink we eventually left and went back to the van. On the way she was asking for her bag even though it was in my hand the whole time. I of course said that she had left it behind and we might go back and get it later.

As we hadn’t eaten yet I thought it was best to get something to eat. So we headed to Mcdonalds for some breakfast. Her head had cleared a little so she could order coherently. Afterwards, we went home and the wife went for a laydown. Which was nice for me. A bit of peace and quiet. She is now giving me a look. She eventually arose four hours later. Still not remembering what had happened. She still thinks I am making this all up.
