Star Trek The Next Generation – All Good Things

The Book
Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster Inc., published this book in 1994.
Star Trek is a Registered Trademark of Paramount Pictures.
My copy is a first-print hardback. It has 248 pages and nothing more. I also used an ebook on my phone when I’m not at home.
What Did I Think?
This book is a novelisation of the final two episodes of Star Trek: TNG All Good Things.
Captain Picard is in trouble. He is being pulled backwards and forwards through time. He doesn’t know why, and he has to find out soon, or all life in the universe will cease to exist.
Picard is visiting three points in time. The first is when he first took command of the Galaxy-class USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The second is his present day. The third is set in the future. He has left Starfleet and works on his vineyard. He is ill. His brain is slowly failing him.
He eventually finds out that humanity is still on trial for failing to show any signs of evolving.
Q has returned and, as always, with the Q continuum. Has been judging humanity.
Something is growing in the Devron system. As Picard jumps through time, he notices the anomaly growing bigger the further back he goes.
The Enterprise crews must work together, across all timelines, to prevent the end of their universe.
This was awesome and sad at the same time. The Next Generation was over. The only upside, at the time, was that Star Trek: Generations was in production. We were getting more Star Trek. But not on the small screen.
The novel has a few extra scenes that never made it to the screen. This included a scene with Wesley Crusher. It is a shame. But I understand there was a time limit on filming. They couldn’t add everything.
Would I Recommend?
Because I love Star Trek, I would recommend this book. Star Trek has been a guiding light in my life. It set the standard for how people should be treated and how society should work together to build paradise. So I will always gravitate toward this universe. And the dream Mr Roddenberry wanted to bring to the world.
Please give this a go.
